I have a master’s in SEO, although I got into this by chance. It was as an intern.
I still remember the first day, when I arrived nervous as hell at those offices that were barely bigger than my bedroom. There we were, 7 people in a consultancy that was just starting to take its first steps. It was pretty cool.
Back then the company managed to sell through cold calling, making follow-up visits to senior executives or attending industry events.
I focused on the website. It was rubbish, or rather a collage of images pulled from Canva that were just for show.
I got a bit obsessed, I have to say. I wanted to stay at the company, so I thought the best way was to impress them by changing the website.
I started researching information, watching videos, courses, books, articles…
I remember being in class tinkering with WordPress, while the teacher was going on about his stuff and the rest of my classmates were thinking about the weekend bender.
Soon enough I had a pretty decent-looking website and I started thinking:
«Okay, now we have a nice website, why isn’t anyone visiting?«
That’s where I discovered SEO or web positioning, whatever you want to call it.
I didn’t know yet that I liked it so much. But everything changed with the first lead.
